Grey Market Trading

What is grey market?

Grey market refers to pre-initial public offering (IPO) trading of new Hong Kong stocks conducted over-the-counter. It is carried out after the close of trading on the day prior to the initial public offering (IPO). In addition, grey market trading is not conducted through the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) system; instead, it is carried out through internal systems provided by securities firms that use quoted prices to match orders.
